Waldemar Węgrzyn

Prof. Waldemar Węgrzyn (born 1959 in Kraków) is a faculty member at the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice, where he leads the Screen Printing Studio. His artistic practice spans digital graphics, screen printing, drawing, video art, and installations, focusing on integrating technological tools with traditional graphic techniques to develop original formal solutions.

Research & Artistic Focus: Węgrzyn explores the aesthetic and technological potential of digital graphics across print, moving images, and projections. His work emphasizes quality in graphic matter and hybrid techniques combining digital and analog methods.

Scientific Awards:

• First Prize in the poster competition SYMBOLS OF CONTEMPORARY TIME (1990, Poznań)
• First Prize at Kanagawa International Print Triennial (2001, Japan)
• Statutory Prize and Grand Prix nomination (7th Triennial of Polish Graphic Arts, 2009)
