Sybilla Skałuba

Sybilla Skałuba is a Professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice, where she serves as an independent lecturer in the Studio of Graphic Art Fundamentals and Assistant in the Relief Printing Studio of Professor Mariusz Pałka. She is also a Board Member at the Faculty of Arts and serves as Weekend Academy Coordinator for Fine Arts in Katowice. Her work extends beyond academia as she is the Vice President of the Association of Friends of Roundabout Gallery and owner of the BIBU Gallery of Contemporary Art in Katowice.

Her research explores symmetry and its dissonance in visual arts, as evidenced by her exhibition 'Obszary symetrii – Dysonans symetrii' at the Silesian Museum in Katowice. Her work bridges traditional printmaking techniques with contemporary artistic expression, often incorporating digital printing methods. She has contributed significantly to Polish graphic arts education through her academic position and various art education projects.

Her exhibition history reveals a consistent focus on woodcut as her primary medium, with works featured in over 80 exhibitions in Poland and internationally. As owner of the BIBU Gallery of Contemporary Art and Vice President of the Association of Friends of Roundabout Gallery, Skałuba maintains active roles in the Katowice art scene. Her Relief Printing Studio serves as both an academic teaching space and creative laboratory where traditional woodcut techniques are explored alongside contemporary approaches. She has also led workshops for youth ('Razem z mistrzem') and for people with disabilities, demonstrating her commitment to making art accessible to diverse communities.
