Waldemar Górski

Professor Waldemar Górski is a distinguished faculty member at the Stanisław Moniuszko Academy of Music in Gdańsk, where he serves in Department IV - Choral Conducting, Church Music, Artistic Education, Rhythmics and Jazz. He was appointed associate professor in 2008, received the title of professor of musical arts in 2011, and was appointed full professor in 2012. Throughout his career, he has held significant administrative roles including Vice-Dean and Dean of Faculty IV for two terms.

Professor Górski's research and professional interests focus on conducting, particularly choral conducting, music education, church music, artistic education, rhythmics, and jazz. He is renowned for his extensive work with various choirs and orchestras both in Poland and internationally, having conducted ensembles such as the "CANTILENA" choir, the "CANTATA" choir, and the symphony orchestra of the Feliks Nowowiejski Secondary Music School in Gdańsk. His conducting expertise has led him to represent Poland at numerous international festivals and competitions across Germany, France, Lithuania, Hungary, Ukraine, Italy, Austria, the Netherlands, Spain, the Czech Republic, Turkey, Ecuador, and Bulgaria.

As an educator, Professor Górski has had a profound impact on the next generation of musicians. By 2023, he had promoted 15 Doctors of Arts from various countries including China, the USA, and Belarus, with 10 of them becoming academic teachers at universities worldwide. He has also reviewed 16 doctoral dissertations and 21 habilitation dissertations.

Professor Górski has been instrumental in developing academic programs, serving as Editor-in-chief of the academic journal SZTUKA | KULTURA | EDUKACJA, and initiating the Doctoral Studies in Conducting program. He currently heads the Department of Doctoral Artistic Projects at the Institute of Choral and Oratorio-Cantata Conducting. His recent artistic focus has been working with the Baltic Opera Choir in Gdańsk as Artistic Director and Conductor, preparing opera premieres. He considers his primary mission to be teaching, pedagogical work, and organizational/expert activities.
