W. Dale Connally is Professor and Department Chair in the Department of Health, Human Performance, and Recreation at Baylor University, where he also serves as Program Director for Recreation and Leisure Services. He is based in the Marrs McLean Gymnasium and holds a leadership role in shaping academic and professional development within recreation and leisure studies.
His educational background includes a PhD in Recreation Resource Management from the University of New Mexico, with both master’s and bachelor’s degrees earned at Baylor University.
Dr. Connally's research and professional focus centers on recreation and sport ministry, with additional expertise in recreation leadership, program planning, and leisure services as a profession. His work bridges academic instruction and practical application in faith-based and community recreation contexts.
His teaching includes courses such as RLS 1396: Introduction to Recreation and Leisure Services, where he introduces students to the profession and its societal impact.
He is a Certified Park and Recreation Professional and maintains active involvement in professional development through organizations such as Athletic Business and the Texas Recreation and Park Society.
Dr. Connally is actively engaged with the Christian Society for Kinesiology, Sport, and Leisure Studies, having held multiple leadership positions, reflecting his commitment to integrating faith and recreation scholarship.
