Volker Schlöndorff

Volker Schlöndorff is a renowned film director and Professor of Film and Literature at The European Graduate School (EGS) since 2001. Born in 1939, he grew up in Schlangenbad and studied in France, including at the Sorbonne, before entering the film industry. He is celebrated for adapting literary works into films, most notably The Tin Drum (1979), which earned him an Academy Award and Palme d’Or.
