Volker M. Lauschke is a Professor in Translational Pharmacology at Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden, and Director of the Biofabrication and Tissue Engineering Core Facility. He also serves as Deputy Head of the Margarete Fischer-Bosch Institute of Clinical Pharmacology in Stuttgart, Germany, with guest professorships at Changsha Central South University and Lanzhou University. His research integrates 3D cell culture systems, microfluidics, and genomics to develop therapeutic strategies for NASH, infectious diseases, and metabolic disorders. He has authored over 180 peer-reviewed papers and received awards such as the ISSX Karl Netter Award and Clarivate Highly Cited Researcher recognition. He co-founded HepaPredict and PersoMedix for drug discovery and personalized medicine services.
Education: PhD (2013), Masters in Molecular Biosciences (2009), and Bachelors in Molecular and Cellular Biology (2007).
Research Interests: Focuses on microphysiological systems, pharmacogenomics, and liver regeneration. Current projects include 3D tissue models for diabetes, NASH, and viral infections, plus bioprinting and drug biasing using BRET biosensors.
