Vlassios Likodimos

Vlassios Likodimos is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA). He holds a PhD in Physics from NKUA (1996) and has held academic and research roles at institutions including the University of Pisa (postdoc, 1998–2000), Institute of Materials Science in NCSR 'Demokritos' (2000–2001), and the National Technical University of Athens (contractual lecturer, 2001–2006). His research focuses on nanostructured photonic materials, plasmonic nanoparticles, and carbon nanomaterials for energy and environmental applications. He has led three EU/national research projects as Principal Investigator and contributed to over 190 peer-reviewed publications (h-index 46).

Research interests span energy and environmental applications of advanced materials, with a focus on photonic materials and nanostructured systems. He actively participates in editorial roles, serving as Section Editor-in-Chief of Materials Physics and Guest Editor for five Special Issues. His work bridges fundamental materials science and applied solutions for sustainability.

Advising and grants include leadership in projects totaling significant funding. He has authored over 157 conference communications and reviews for 60+ journals.
