Vlad Costin is an Assistant Professor in Social Psychology at the School of Psychology, University of Sussex. He completed his PhD in Social Psychology at Sussex in 2018, followed by an ESRC-funded postdoctoral project at Cardiff University before returning to Sussex. His research focuses on psychological needs fulfillment, meaning in life, and identity processes.
Research interests include:
- Predictors of meaningfulness and wellbeing
- Core psychological needs (certainty, control, meaning)
- Identity threat and coping mechanisms
- Political ideology and cross-cultural research
- Open and reproducible science methods
Teaching roles include serving as Undergraduate Course Convenor for Psychology and convening modules on quantitative/qualitative methods and open science. Student feedback sessions are available through scheduled appointments.
