Professor Vivienne Bath is a Professor of Chinese and International Business Law at the University of Sydney's Law School, serving as Associate Director of the Centre for Asian and Pacific Law. She holds advanced degrees from ANU and Harvard, with expertise spanning Chinese law, international investment law, and transnational commercial regulation.
Her research focuses on foreign investment regulation, cross-border dispute resolution, and the role of China in global legal frameworks. Key projects include studies on the Belt and Road Initiative, sustainable development goals in private law, and ASEAN investment agreements.
Prof. Bath has authored over 50 publications, including seminal works like The Law of International Business in Australasia and Foreign Investment and Dispute Resolution Law and Practice in Asia. She advises governments and international bodies on legal reforms and has presented globally on topics like China's legal evolution and international investment arbitration.
Her professional memberships include the International Law Association, American Society of International Law, and UNCITRAL National Co-ordination Committee for Australia. She is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Law and holds research positions at UC Berkeley.
