Chao WANG is a Professor and Assistant Dean (Teaching and External Affairs) at the Faculty of Law (FLL), University of Macau. He holds a Ph.D. (Law) from the University of British Columbia (UBC), alongside L.L.M., M.A., and LL.B. qualifications. His professional affiliations include roles with the Chinese Society of International Law, Supreme People’s Court China associations, and multiple international arbitration bodies.
Research focuses on Human Rights & Constitutional Law, International Trade & Intellectual Property, and Investment & Financial Dispute Resolution. Key contributions include studies on arbitration mechanisms, pandemic law, and Sino-foreign legal dynamics. He has authored/co-authored over 30 peer-reviewed articles and 5 books, including Arbitration and Mediation in Macau: Rules and Context (2024) and Selective Adaptation of International Rules of Governance (2023).
Notable awards include the 2022 Excellence in Research Award and the 2020 Distinguished Article Award. He serves on editorial boards for Chinese Journal of International Law, Journal of East Asia and International Law, and others. His advisory roles span legal committees in Guangzhou, Shanghai, and Shenzhen arbitration centers.
Teaching and research highlight cross-cultural legal frameworks, WTO compliance, and dispute resolution innovations. He has advised on Macau’s arbitration reforms and contributed to policy analysis on China’s health code systems during pandemics.
