Dr. Lu Wang is a Lecturer and core member of the China International Business and Economic Law (CIBEL) Centre at UNSW Sydney's Faculty of Law and Justice. She holds a PhD from the University of Liverpool and dual PhD/LLM/LLB degrees from Xi'an Jiaotong University. Her research focuses on international investment law, arbitration, and Chinese regulatory frameworks for international business. She has published widely on topics like State-owned enterprises (SOEs) in investment law, China's investment treaties, and dispute resolution mechanisms.
Education: PhD (University of Liverpool), PhD, LLM, LLB (Xi'an Jiaotong University).
Research interests include international investment law, SOE regulations, and China's role in shaping global economic governance. Her recent work explores SOE interactions with investment law and China's approach to ISDS reform. She collaborates with international organizations like the Asia Pacific FDI Network and served as a Visiting Fellow at the University of Cambridge's Lauterpacht Centre for International Law.
Publications span leading journals and edited volumes, with a focus on treaty interpretation, investment arbitration, and China's treaty practices. Her recent work addresses RCEP implications, SOE disciplines in EU-China agreements, and energy security in investment protection.
Grants include roles as co-investigator on projects like the National Social Science Fund of China (2021) and the UNSW PVCE Digital Uplift Program (2019). Awards include the 2020 Excellence in Research Achievement Award (China Ministry of Education) and multiple young scholar prizes.
Teaching includes courses on international investment law, arbitration, and Chinese regulation of international business. She is affiliated with the CIBEL Centre and contributes to academic conferences globally.
