Vivien C. Yee

Vivien C. Yee is an Associate Professor at the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, holding dual appointments in the Departments of Biochemistry and Pharmacology. As Director of Undergraduate Programs and Vice Chair for Education, she leads curriculum development and mentoring initiatives within the Department of Biochemistry.

Dr. Yee's research focuses on biomedical protein structures using X-ray crystallography, with applications in drug metabolism, neurodegenerative disorders, and antiviral defense. Her lab pioneered structural studies of the human prion protein linked to spongiform encephalopathies and investigated pharmacogenomic implications of drug-metabolizing enzyme polymorphisms.

Recent work includes structural analysis of blood coagulation proteins and biotin-dependent enzymes, revealing catalytic mechanisms and disease mutation effects. She contributes to the Case Comprehensive Cancer Center's Molecular Oncology Program.
