Dr. Vishalakshi Roy serves as Assistant Professor in Creative Industries at the University of Warwick, where she is Course Director for the MA in Creative and Media Enterprises and module convenor for "Entrepreneurship: A Critical Perspective". She holds Senior Fellow status at the Warwick Institute of Engagement and chairs the Evaluation Learning Circle.
Her academic credentials include a PhD in Entrepreneurship from Warwick Business School, an MA in Creative and Media Enterprises (2003) from the University of Warwick, a Postgraduate Diploma in Advertising and PR from the Indian Institute of Mass Communications Delhi, and an Honours degree in Accountancy.
Roy's research examines the tension between creativity and entrepreneurial behavior in cultural enterprises, focusing on individual-level opportunity exploitation for economic, social, and cultural value creation. Her work spans leadership dynamics, strategic management of cultural organizations, and audience-market relationships within creative sectors.
Her publication portfolio reveals consistent thematic focus on creative entrepreneurship, cultural policy implementation, and evaluation frameworks, with recent emphasis on pandemic impacts on cultural workers and identity transformation in craft entrepreneurship.
