Virginie Tournay is a Research Professor at the CNRS, affiliated with the Center for Political Research (CEVIPOF) at Sciences Po. She specializes in the intersection of political science, epistemology, and biotechnologies, with a focus on the political implications of digital and biological innovations.
- PhD in Political Science (Paris I-Panthéon Sorbonne)
- Master’s in Molecular Biology and Sociology (Paris V René Descartes)
- Postdoctoral fellowship at McGill University
Her research explores the politics of biotechnologies, scientific mediations, and political transformations of digital technologies. She is particularly interested in genetic modifications, public trust in science, and the ethical challenges of AI. Her recent work includes creative writing to envision future societal structures.
Virginie has led two ANR grants on stem cell regulation and biotechnology cultural issues. She received the CNRS Bronze Medal (2011) for developing a pragmatic institutional analysis framework. She also co-authored a tribune advocating institutional reforms to combat scientific information deregulation.
She lectures on AI’s political challenges at Sciences Po and writes a monthly column for Pour la Science. Her collaborations span institutions like PACTE, LESSEM, and the OPECST scientific committee.
