Violaine Lemay is a Full Professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Montreal, and a regular researcher at the Centre de recherche en droit public (CRDP). She founded and directs the interdisciplinary journals Les Chantiers de la recherche en droit and Les Chantiers de l'intervention en sciences humaines, focusing on pedagogical innovation in legal and social sciences. Her research emphasizes interdisciplinarity as a tool for equality rights, with expertise spanning legal sociology, epistemology, youth law, and global health.
- Education: Doctorate in Law (supervised by Guy Rocher), member of the Quebec Bar since 1991
- Projects: Directed the International Association on the Drug Chain (2011-2022), co-founded the Centre for Research on Interdisciplinarity and Interculturality
Her research explores interdisciplinary frameworks for gender equality, combating discrimination, and supporting vulnerable groups in legal and societal contexts. She chairs the Hygeia Observatory, which empowers women and girls in the Francophonie. Recent projects include the SEDTO initiative on youth sexting issues.
Key publications include her international bestseller Évaluation scolaire et justice sociale (2000) and numerous interdisciplinary studies. She received the University of Montreal Excellence in Teaching Award (2008) and ACFAS Pedagogical Innovation Prize (2015).
