Viola Renner-Motz is a Scientific Associate at the Historical Institute of the University of Mannheim, affiliated with the Chair of Contemporary History. She returned to the university in Fall 2023 to pursue her doctorate and research, focusing on the Nazi past of Southwest German State Parliament Members after 1945. Her work bridges historical analysis of political systems and post-war societal dynamics.
Education: She completed her studies in secondary school teaching with a focus on history, French, politics, and economics at the University of Mannheim, Sciences Po Rennes (France), and the German School Helsinki (Finland), graduating in 2020. She later completed a teaching internship in Baden-Baden.
Research interests emphasize modern German political history, post-war governance, and the intersection of institutional continuity and Nazi legacies. Her current project critically examines how former Nazi collaborators reintegrated into political structures post-1945, shedding light on ethical and institutional memory challenges.
