Dr. Caroline Klausing is a Lecturer in contemporary history and history didactics at the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz. She holds positions as Lehrbeauftragte (Lecturer) in contemporary history since 2007 and Lehrkraft für besondere Aufgaben (Lecturer for special tasks) in history didactics since 2011. Her research focuses on regional history (Baden, Rheinhessen, Palatinate), Nazi-era church dynamics, and post-1945 memory politics. She earned a Magister Artium (2002) and completed her doctorate (2003–2010) on the Confessing Church in Baden during the Nazi regime.
She collaborated on projects like the Ingelheim National Socialism book (2007–2011) and exhibition (2011–2012). Her work includes editing volumes on RAF terrorism, Napoleonic Wars memory, and National Socialism in Ingelheim. She frequently lectures on topics like church history, Nazi-era resistance, and post-war commemoration.
She contributes to events such as the RAF lecture series with the Rhineland-Palatinate State Center for Political Education. Her teaching focuses on history didactics, and she advises students in related fields. She maintains active research collaborations in Baden-Württemberg and beyond.
