Vinoj Abraham is a Professor at the Centre for Development Studies (CDS), Thiruvananthapuram, where he also coordinates the National Research Programme on Plantation Development (NRPPD). He holds the Ministry of Commerce Chair at CDS. Abraham earned his PhD and M.Phil in Economics from Jawaharlal Nehru University (2006), an M.S in Development Economics from Pondicherry University (1995), and a B.A in Economics from Madras Christian College (1993).
His research spans Labour Economics, Gender and Development, Economics of Technology and Innovation, Regional Development, and Plantation studies. He has supervised 5 Ph.D. and 30 M.Phil students. Abraham has received the Sanjay Thakur Award for Young Labour Economist (2007) and a Student Grant from Sarai (2003).

Abraham contributes to peer reviews for journals like World Development, Economic and Political Weekly, and Indian Journal of Labour Economics. He leads projects on plantation sector performance, farmer producer organizations, self-help groups, and migrant children in Kerala. He has participated in international research initiatives funded by the World Bank, ILO, IDRC, and European Commission.
