Vincenzo De Lipsis is a Lecturer in the Department of Economics at the University of Southampton and an Honorary Senior Research Fellow at the UCL Bartlett School of Environment, Energy and Resources. His research focuses on macroeconomic implications of climate change, natural resource management, and energy policy. He holds a PhD in Economics from Birkbeck College (University of London), an MSc in Economics from the University of Warwick, and a BSc from University of Rome La Sapienza.
Research interests include:
- The effects of climate change on commodity markets
- Technological innovation and resource scarcity
- Expectations in energy markets
- Credibility of policy measures
- Macroeconomic innovation policies
Teaching responsibilities include courses on Introduction to Econometrics (ECON2043) and Resource and Energy Economics (ECON6064). He currently supervises PhD student Xinyuan Lu in the Economics department.
Recent articles explore topics like climate impacts on US wheat markets, energy demand modeling in Saudi Arabia, and structural shifts in UK monetary policy. These works highlight his expertise in econometric analysis applied to environmental and energy economics challenges.
External roles include serving as Co-Editor for the Economics (Journal) since 2024.
He previously held a Research Fellowship at UCL's Bartlett School before joining Southampton in his current role.
