Josh Ryan-Collins

Josh Ryan-Collins is a Professor of Economics and Finance at the Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose, University College London. He has held visiting positions at the University of Sydney and University of Amsterdam and serves as Departmental Graduate Tutor for UCL's PhD program. His research focuses on the financial system's role in housing markets, environmental transition, and sustainable finance.

His research integrates macroeconomics, ecological economics, and political economy to examine money creation, land economics, and financial regulation. Recent work explores ecosystem tipping points, housing affordability, and economic rents. Publications span journals like Ecological Economics and Nature: Climate Change, with over 30 policy reports.

Josh advises the UK Department of Levelling Up, Housing and Communities on housing affordability and collaborates with the Network for Greening the Financial System (NGFS). His grants include funding from the European Commission and philanthropic foundations. He is also a council member of the Progressive Economy Forum and manages UCL's PhD program.
