Vincent de Boer

Vincent de Boer is an Assistant Professor at Wageningen University in the Department of Human and Animal Physiology and holds a WIAS Assistant Professor appointment. His research focuses on metabolism and immunology with expertise in extracellular flux analysis, oxygen consumption, and metabolic pathways using models ranging from cell lines to mice and zebrafish.

His research spans metabolic regulation in health and disease, investigating SIRT5 function, mitochondrial fitness, and immune-metabolic crosstalk. Key methodologies include flux analysis of peripheral blood mononuclear cells, protein degradation studies under hypoxia, and development of bioinformatics tools for cellular imaging. Work has implications for understanding intestinal diseases, muscle atrophy, and metabolic disorders.

Recent publications (2024-2025) demonstrate strong continuity in metabolic research, featuring SIRT5 neuropathology studies, hypoxia-induced protein catabolism mechanisms, and innovative data analysis tools. The work bridges fundamental biochemistry with physiological applications in aging, immunity, and tissue-specific metabolism.
