Evelien Kidess

Evelien Kidess is a Researcher at the Host-Microbe Interactomics department of Wageningen University & Research. Her research focuses on understanding the role of IL-22 signaling in maintaining gut epithelial barrier integrity under healthy and inflammatory conditions. Using the zebrafish model, she investigates how IL-22 mediates interactions between the gut microbiota, immune system, and metabolic processes. This work aims to uncover mechanisms underlying diseases like inflammatory bowel disease and obesity, with implications for developing strategies to strengthen intestinal barrier function.
