معرفی
Katja Teerds is an Associate Professor at Wageningen University in the Department of Human and Animal Physiology. Her research focuses on the interplay between reproductive physiology, metabolic health, and endocrinology in livestock animals, particularly pigs and rodents. She has led and co-led multiple PhD projects investigating follicular development, energy balance during lactation, and the impact of nutritional and hormonal factors on fertility.
- Key Research Areas: Reproductive Physiology, Metabolic Health, Endocrinology, Cell Biology.
- Collaborations: WIAS (Wageningen Institute for Animal Sciences), VLAG Graduate School.
- Notable Projects: Role of vitamin B2 in reproduction-metabolism interplay, improving piglet birth weight through follicular development studies.
Her work employs advanced techniques like single-cell transcriptomics, laser capture microdissection, and extracellular flux analysis. She has contributed to understanding disorders such as bilateral gonadal hypoplasia in bulls and the effects of endocrine disruptors on reproductive systems. Her recent publications highlight the consequences of negative energy balance in sows and mitochondrial regulation in metabolic diseases.
