معرفی
Nicoline Soede is an Associate Professor in Adaptation Physiology at Wageningen University's WIAS (Wageningen Institute of Animal Sciences). Her research focuses on swine reproduction, lactation physiology, and the physiological impacts of dietary interventions. She leads projects addressing sow body condition, piglet survival, and follicular development in hyperprolific breeds. Notable contributions include studies on maternal nutrition's effect on piglet intestinal health and wearable sensors for parturition prediction.
Key research areas include:
- Lactation management and energy balance effects on ovarian function
- Maternal dietary strategies to improve colostrum quality and neonatal survival
- Genetic selection for improved maternal care and reduced piglet mortality
- Applications of transcriptomics to understand follicular development mechanisms
Dr. Soede has supervised 16 PhD projects including work on multi-suckling systems, parturition sensors, and folliculogenesis. Her 2013 George Foxcroft Award recognizes excellence in swine production research. Current projects explore dietary protein kinetics in lactating sows and the role of IGF-1 in follicular competence.
