Dr. Victoria Warburton is an Associate Professor in Psychology of Physical Education and Sport at the University of East Anglia (UEA), affiliated with the School of Education & Lifelong Learning. She holds dual membership in the Sport, Health And Education research cluster. As Chair of the School's Ethics Committee, she oversees research integrity across undergraduate (UG), postgraduate taught (PGT), and postgraduate research (PGR) programs.
Her academic journey began with a PhD in Sport & Exercise Psychology from Loughborough University (2008). She is a Chartered Psychologist and Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society, with expertise in quantitative methodologies including longitudinal analysis, structural equation modeling, and multi-level modeling.
Research interests focus on motivation dynamics across Sport, Health, and Education contexts, emphasizing mindset theory, achievement goals, and self-determination theory. Key projects include a British Academy-funded longitudinal study on peer/teacher climates in physical education and a Sport England-supported evaluation of coach mentoring programs.
Teaching spans Sport and Exercise Psychology modules on the BSc Physical Education, Sport, and Health degree, with contributions to research methods and ethics training. Her work has been recognized through fellowships and consultancy in sport, health, and education sectors.
Awards include British Academy grants, Sport England funding, and professional accolades from the British Psychological Society and Higher Education Academy.
