Victoria Ligon, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Practice in the Department of Personal and Family Financial Planning at the University of Arizona’s Norton School of Human Ecology. She specializes in food waste, food systems, financial literacy, sustainable consumption, and consumer decision-making. Her research bridges household resource management and ethical consumption choices, with a focus on how competing values (e.g., health, cost, convenience) influence consumer behavior. Ligon teaches courses such as Personal Finance Foundations, The MONEY Class, and Consumers, Food and the Future of Eating.
Education: B.A. in Public Policy from Oberlin College; M.S. and Ph.D. in Family & Consumer Sciences from the University of Arizona.
Affiliated with the Take Charge America Institute, Take Charge Cats program, and Financial Freedom Club. Her work emphasizes practical applications of financial literacy and sustainable practices to improve individual and community well-being.
