Dr. Victoria Jenkins is an Associate Professor at Swansea University's Hillary Rodham Clinton School of Law, within the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. Her research focuses on environmental law, particularly sustainable land management and natural resource governance in Wales. She has collaborated with the Welsh Government, Senedd, and organizations like Natural Resources Wales to influence policy and legal frameworks. Her work emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches, notably with Dr. Jonathan Walker on peatland law and governance. Current projects include public engagement initiatives and legal strategies for nature restoration, informed by her teaching modules on environmental crises.
Education and career: She has been at Swansea University since 1999, with a PhD in sustainable development. Her expertise spans EU law, land use planning, and local policy-making post-Brexit.
Research interests include legal frameworks for sustainable development, biodiversity protection, and the intersection of aesthetics and environmental law. Recent publications address peatland management, post-Brexit policy challenges, and Wales’ environmental ambitions.
Collaborations include UKRI’s landscape decision-making program and local councils like Neath Port Talbot. Future work includes a public event with Carmarthenshire County Council and presentations on environmental legislation at UKELA conferences.
