Dr. Victoria Carolan is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Greenwich's School of Humanities and Social Sciences. She specializes in cultural history with a focus on maritime history and film. Her doctoral research at Queen Mary, University of London examined British Maritime History, National Identity and Film (1900-1960). She previously held a Dutch Government-funded research fellowship at the Jan van Eyck Academie in Maastricht, exploring maritime identities through interdisciplinary approaches.
Her research interests include British film (1895-present), particularly representations of historical conflict, documentary filmmaking, Second World War home front experiences, and maritime/naval topics from cultural perspectives. She leads the Greenwich Memory Network and co-organizes the Great War Greenwich project, facilitating academic and public engagement with historical memory.
