Dr. Victor Counted is an Associate Professor of Psychology at Regent University, serving as Director of the Office of Research & Sponsored Programs and Program Director for Abundant Life Flourishing. He holds affiliations with Harvard University’s Human Flourishing Program and is a Fellow of the International Society for Science and Religion. He earned dual PhDs in Health Psychology (Western Sydney University) and Psychology of Religion (University of Groningen).
His research focuses on psychological processes (psychosocial, psychospiritual, psychospatial, neuropsychological) shaping human flourishing across cultures. He develops integrative frameworks combining psychological science with cross-cultural healthcare practices. Recent work explores place spirituality, pandemic impacts on well-being, and disruptions to attachment systems.
Key contributions include over 70 peer-reviewed articles and 5 authored/edited books. Notable publications include *The Roots of Radicalization* (2021) and *Place and Post-Pandemic Flourishing* (2021). His awards include the Wessel Ganzevoort Award (2019) and a Leadership Excellence Award (2012).
Prof. Counted serves as Associate Editor for the *Journal of Positive Psychology* and Editor of Springer’s *Religion, Spirituality, and Health* book series. He collaborates internationally through initiatives like the Global Flourishing Study and Place Attachment Network.
