Vicki Colvin

Dr. Vicki Colvin is the current Dean of the LSU College of Engineering and holds the Bert S. Turner Chair. A native of Baton Rouge, she earned her bachelor's degree in Chemistry and Physics from Stanford University (1988) and her PhD in Chemistry from UC Berkeley (1994).

• Former Director of Biomedical Engineering at Brown
• Former Director of NSF Center for Biological and Environmental Nanotechnology (CBEN)
• Founding Director of Brown’s Institute for Biology, Engineering, and Medicine

Her research focuses on nanoscale materials' interactions with living systems and the environment, including:

• Electromagnetically active particles for disease treatment
• Perpetual antioxidants to mediate foreign body response in medical devices
• Over 200 peer-reviewed publications and 5 patents

Scientific recognitions include:

• Fellow of AIMBE and AAAS
• 2015 Sustainable Nanotechnology Award
• Phi Beta Kappa Teaching Award from Rice University
