Veronica Womack serves as Associate Director of High-Impact Teaching at the Searle Center for Advancing Learning and Teaching (Northwestern University) and holds a Lecturer position in the Department of Black Studies. Her work focuses on inclusive pedagogy, culturally responsive teaching practices, and fostering equitable academic environments. She earned a PhD in Psychology from Howard University and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in epidemiology at Northwestern’s Feinberg School of Medicine.
Dr. Womack’s research spans racial socialization, mindfulness-based coping strategies, and the impacts of gendered racism on mental health and academic success. She previously developed STEM faculty training programs promoting inclusive teaching and has taught courses in Social Psychology and Mindfulness Studies at multiple institutions. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes humanizing education through reflective questioning and real-world relevance.
Key contributions include mentoring initiatives (e.g., National Research Mentoring Network) and studies on Black women’s resilience in biomedical fields. She currently chairs Northwestern’s Women’s Center Advisory Board and Center for the Integration of Research, Teaching, and Learning (CIRTL) steering committee.
