Verity Platt is a Professor in the Department of Classics at Cornell University's College of Arts and Sciences. She specializes in Greek and Roman art history, focusing on the interplay between literary and visual cultures in the Hellenistic and Roman periods. Her research spans ancient theories of images, media and intermediality, and the historiography of ancient art, particularly through the lens of Pliny the Elder. She has co-edited Wonder and Wakefulness: The Nature of Pliny the Elder (2024) and The Frame in Greek and Roman Art (2017).
