Vera Ivanova is a tenured Associate Professor at Chapman University's College of Performing Arts. A graduate of the Moscow Conservatory, Guildhall School of Music and Drama (MM), and the Eastman School of Music (PhD), she is renowned for her compositions described as "humanistic and deeply felt" by peers. Her work spans chamber opera, electroacoustic music, and interdisciplinary collaborations with visual artists and performers.
Her recent compositions like Mirrored Rain (2024) for two pianos and Toy Phantasy (2023) with video artist Anne Stagg were premiered at institutions including Chapman University, Long Beach State, and San Francisco's Old First Church. Ivanova's academic career includes advisory roles at the American Composers Forum and co-founding the Synchromy collective. Awards such as the MacDowell Colony Fellowship and CAPMT Commissioned Composer Award highlight her impact.
