Aron Kallay is a Lecturer in Music and pianist at Pomona College, where he has been teaching since 2011. He is also on the faculty at Chapman University and California State University, Fullerton, teaching music theory, electronic music, and music technology. His work bridges performance, pedagogy, and technological innovation in contemporary music.
His educational background includes a DMA in Piano Performance from the University of Southern California, an MM in Piano Pedagogy and Performance from the University of Michigan, and a BFA and Certificate in Piano Pedagogy from Carnegie Mellon University.
Aron Kallay is a Grammy-nominated pianist celebrated for his performances of new and experimental music. His artistic focus includes electronic music, microtonal systems, alternate tunings, and interdisciplinary performance integrating video and technology. He is described as one of Los Angeles’ most versatile keyboardists, with a unique blend of intellectual depth, emotional expression, and physical engagement in performance.
His recent recordings and performances reflect a strong trend toward avant-garde and experimental repertoire, particularly works involving indeterminacy, technology, and non-traditional tuning systems. He frequently collaborates with living composers and is dedicated to expanding the boundaries of piano performance through innovation and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Kallay has been actively involved in mentoring new music initiatives and leading performance projects. He co-directs MicroFest Records and MicroFest, Los Angeles’ annual festival of microtonal music, and is the managing director of the underground concert series Tuesdays@MONK Space. He is also co-founder and board president of People Inside Electronics (PIE) and serves on the board of Piano Spheres. While formal student advising is not mentioned, his leadership in these organizations demonstrates significant mentorship and collaborative guidance within the new music community. He has received multiple grants supporting his artistic projects, including the Canada Council Grant and the Subito Grant.
Aron Kallay is a core member of several ensembles, including Brightwork newmusic (Pierrot + percussion), the Varied Trio, and the Ray-Kallay Duo. He also leads MicroFest and Tuesdays@MONK Space, which function as platforms for experimental music and emerging artists. These collectives emphasize innovation, collaboration, and the presentation of cutting-edge contemporary works.
