Ron Anderson

Ron Anderson is a Lecturer at Chapman University's Conservatory of Music within the College of Performing Arts, and concurrently teaches Piano and Theory at Los Angeles City College. He holds doctoral and graduate degrees in Piano Performance, Opera, and Music Composition. His professional career spans performances in over two dozen operatic roles, including notable works by Bizet, Puccini, and Britten, as well as soloist engagements with orchestras like the Torrance Symphony and Redlands Bowl.

Dr. Anderson is an award-winning composer whose works have won major competitions. His choral anthem Wilt Thou Forgive? won the Cerddorion Competition, and he holds SMP Press awards across three categories. His compositions are published by SMP Press.

His research interests focus on composition innovation, vocal-piano collaboration, and pedagogical approaches to music theory. He actively contributes to the music community through adjudication roles in competitions like the Steinway & Sons Junior Piano Competition and MTNA events.

Advising & Grants: His private studio has produced National Chopin Foundation and MTNA competition winners. He advises the Composers Today Young Composers Guild and previously served as its State Chair. Current projects include the premiered composition Let This Mind Be In You for chorus, clarinet, and piano.

Labs/Teams: Active with SMP Press publishing, CAPMT commissions, and collaborative performances with orchestras.
