Vanessa Macintyre

Vanessa Macintyre is a Researcher affiliated with the University of Manchester, holding roles in the Division of Musculoskeletal & Dermatological Sciences and the Division of Psychology & Mental Health. Her PhD focuses on suicide progression using Perceptual Control Theory. She has conducted projects on green spaces' impact on wellbeing, urban greening effects, and clinical psychology methodologies.

Research Interests: Suicide prevention, clinical applications of Perceptual Control Theory, wellbeing analysis, and the impact of urban environments on mental health. Methodologies include thematic analysis, multi-level modeling, and natural experiments. She is a member of the British Psychological Society and the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies.

Advising & Grants: Co-supervised a junior researcher on suicide studies and contributed to systematic reviews. Projects include the GHIA (green spaces and older adults) and Grow Green (urban greening in deprived areas) initiatives.

Labs/Teams: Associated with the Manchester Centre for Health Psychology and collaborated with the Department of Geography on urban greening projects.
