Lis Cordingley

Lis Cordingley is a Senior Lecturer in Health Psychology at the University of Manchester, affiliated with the Division of Musculoskeletal and Dermatological Sciences within the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health. She holds an honorary role combining teaching and research. She completed a PhD in Medical and Human Sciences at the University of Manchester and has been a lecturer since 2000.

Research Interests: Focuses on psychological aspects of long-term physical illnesses, particularly inflammatory conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, juvenile arthritis, and psoriasis. Her work includes pain assessment, medication adherence, clinician training, and patient-reported outcomes. She leads projects on behavioral interventions for chronic diseases and co-morbidity management.

Teaching & Leadership:

• Designed Problem-Based Learning (PBL) programs for medical students.
• Contributed to national medical psychology curricula.
• Supervised over 14 PhD students in areas like psoriasis clinic efficacy and pediatric pain management.

Collaborations: Works with interdisciplinary teams across rheumatology, dermatology, and pharmacy at the University of Manchester and beyond.

Social Impact: Leads suicide bereavement training and chairs the Manchester Centre for Health Psychology. Active in youth creative writing through YOUNG IDENTITY.
