Vanessa Brassey is Lecturer and Co-Director of the Centre for Philosophy and Art at King's College London. She received her BA in History from Birmingham University and completed her PhD in Philosophy at King's College London in 2020 after a career in commercial marketing and an MA in Philosophy.
Her research examines:
- The malleability of perspective-taking in spatial and temporal dimensions
- Empathic shifts and their role in art appreciation
- The relationship between imagination and emotional engagement with artworks
Dr Brassey teaches modules in Ethics, Philosophy of Art, Political Philosophy, and Philosophy of Medicine. She co-directs the Centre for Philosophy and the Visual Arts, facilitating dialogue between academics, artists, curators, and gallerists.
