Vanessa (Fengqiao) Cui is a Senior Research Fellow at Birmingham City University’s Centre for the Study of Practices and Culture in Education (CSPACE). Her work bridges education policy and practice, emphasizing inclusivity across teacher education, higher education, and further education in the UK and globally.

Vanessa leads impact and dissemination efforts in international projects, including the British Council-funded 'Teacher Education Digital Hub' (Vietnam) and Erasmus-funded 'Collaborative Community Mapping of Young People's Learning During COVID-19' (multiple European countries). Her research on the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) informed the 2021 UK Government's Independent Review by Dame Shirley Pearce.
As impact lead for her research group and co-ordinator at CSPACE, she collaborates with policymakers, practitioners, and community organizations. Recent activities include nationwide Being Human Festival events with the Library of Birmingham and schools.
