Vanesa Fuertes

Vanesa Fuertes is a Senior Lecturer in Social Policy and Sociology at the University of the West of Scotland (UK). She specializes in public/social policy, policy governance, labour market policies, welfare reforms, and socio-economic disadvantages. She holds a Ph.D. from Edinburgh Napier University (2017) and has conducted research for entities such as the Scottish Government, ILO, and European Commission.

Her research focuses on governance challenges in public-private-third sector coordination, labour market disadvantages, and the impact of institutional logics on policy implementation. She is currently leading an ESRC-funded project on underemployment and its socio-economic implications.

Key awards include the 2014 Highly Commended Paper Prize. She has organized workshops like the UWS-Oxfam Partnership Policy Forum and contributed to conferences such as the 'Social Policy Conference: Employment on the Edge'.
