Valérie VISA is a Professor of Greek Language and Literature at the University of Toulouse-Le Mirail, affiliated with the Department of Letters, Languages and Ancient Civilizations. Her research focuses on athlete and agonistic manifestations in ancient Greece, archaic/classical Greek literature (epic and lyric poetry), and imperial period literature (Second Sophistic).

Recent research trends include the intersection of ancient Greek athletics, body image, and cultural representation, with key studies on Philostratus's treatise On Gymnastics and the portrayal of athletes in Athenaeus. She also explores the evolution of athletic heroes in imperial discourse and the rhetorical use of sports metaphors in Lucian's writings.
Administrative roles have included Head of the Greek Section (1998-2005), Director of UFR Letters/Philosophy/Music (2006-2011), and Vice-President of the Board of Directors (2012-2016). She has participated in international conferences on ancient polytheism, Delphi, and cultural partnerships in classical studies.
