معرفی
Valérie Camel is a Professor of Analytical Chemistry and Food Safety at AgroParisTech (Université Paris-Saclay) and a researcher at the SayFood laboratory. She specializes in developing targeted and non-targeted analytical methods for chemical contaminants in food and environmental matrices, with over 15 years of expertise at Anses.
Her educational background includes:
- Physics and Chemistry preparatory class at Pierre de Fermat High School, Toulouse
- ESPCI Paris (1987)
- PhD from Pierre and Marie Curie University (1994)
- HDR (Habilitation to Supervise Research) (2002)
Professor Camel's research focuses on detecting toxic neoformed compounds like acrylamide in food and developing rapid analysis methods for chemical contaminants. Her work bridges analytical chemistry, toxicology, and risk assessment, evolving from environmental applications (water treatment, soil remediation) to food safety. She integrates interdisciplinary approaches to address health security challenges through chemical analysis.
Her scientific recognition includes:
- Analytical Chemistry Division Prize of the French Chemical Society (1999)
Valérie Camel pioneered educational innovation at AgroParisTech, co-creating its Human Health domain and establishing a student support system with reference teachers. She actively promotes the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) methodology and contributes to the award-winning CHIMACTIV digital resource for chemical analysis education, dedicating nearly 25% of her time to pedagogical advancement.
Her laboratory research is conducted within the Product Engineering (GéPro) team at SayFood, where she develops analytical frameworks for food contaminant detection while collaborating across disciplines through University of Paris-Saclay initiatives.
