Dr. Valerie Robnolt is an Associate Professor in the Department of Teaching and Learning at Virginia Commonwealth University's School of Education. She specializes in literacy education, professional development for teachers, and supporting instruction for English Language Learners (ELLs). She holds a Ph.D. in reading education from the University of Virginia, an M.Ed. in elementary education from James Madison University, and a B.A. in psychology from the University of Virginia.
Her research focuses on improving literacy instruction through Response to Intervention (RTI) frameworks, digital age study skills, and teacher training for diverse classrooms. She has served as President of the Virginia State Reading Association (2012-2013) and received the VCU School of Education’s Charles P. Ruch Award for Excellence in Teaching (2013) and Faculty Service Award (2008, 2013). Dr. Robnolt teaches pre-service and in-service teachers methods of teaching reading and language arts. She actively contributes to professional organizations like the Association of Literacy Educators and Researchers and the International Literacy Association.
