Valerie Piccini is the Program Director for Carlow University’s International Dyslexia Association accredited Reading Specialist program and Graduate Certificate in Dyslexia Teaching. She holds a Master of Education in Reading with Disabilities from Wilmington University and a BS in Elementary Education from Duquesne University.

- Professional Roles: National LETRS Professional Learning Facilitator for Lexia Learning, advocate for evidence-based literacy instruction
Her research focuses on Dyslexia, The Reading Brain, and Structured Literacy, emphasizing equitable literacy practices through systematic and explicit teaching of reading, writing, and spelling. She trains teachers nationally in the Science of Reading and supports implementation of evidence-based curricula.
Valerie’s publications include contributions to The Poetic Classroom (2013), which aligns with her interest in integrating literacy with creative practices. She actively develops literacy leaders through Carlow’s MEd program, prioritizing cognitive science of reading and instructional expertise.
