Hannah Szatkowski is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Leadership and Teacher Education K-12, Reading at the University of South Alabama's College of Education and Professional Studies. She holds a B.S. in Elementary Education from Auburn University (2011), an M.Ed. in Reading Education from the University of West Florida (2015), and a Ph.D. in Reading Education from Auburn University (2019). Her research focuses on early literacy, instructional design, and team-based learning in student-centered environments. She coordinates master's programs in Early Childhood and Elementary Education, Reading Specialist programs, and undergraduate add-on certifications, emphasizing innovative and research-driven initiatives. As a national LETRS facilitator, she supports literacy education outreach.
Her teaching philosophy prioritizes collaborative, research-based practices to foster student success. Courses taught include 'Foundations of Reading Instruction,' 'Early Childhood Program Design,' and 'Diagnosing Reading Disabilities.' Her work bridges theory and practice, aiming to enhance teacher preparation and literacy outcomes through evidence-based methods.
Dr. Szatkowski's articles highlight team-based learning's impact on preservice teachers and strategies for addressing literacy challenges. She resides in Pensacola, Florida, and draws inspiration from her two sons' language development journey.
