Valeria De Matteis is a University Researcher and Senior Assistant Professor at the Department of Experimental Medicine, University of Salento (Italy). She obtained her Ph.D. in Biomolecular Nanotechnologies in 2014 from the Center for Biomolecular Nanotechnology–Italian Institute of Technology (CBN-IIT). Her research spans nanomaterial synthesis, toxicity assessment, biophysical cellular analysis, and green synthesis methods for plasmonic nanomaterials.

- Past roles: Assistant Professor (2019–2024) at Department of Mathematics and Physics 'Ennio De Giorgi', Visiting Researcher at IBEC Barcelona (2020)
Her work focuses on in vitro toxicological profiling of nanomaterials and their mechanical cellular interactions. She recently expanded into green synthesis routes for plasmonic materials and their inflammatory response studies. Collaborates with international research entities like IBEC and CNR institutes.
