Valentina Bruno is a Professor of Finance and the Arlene R. and Robert P. Kogod Eminent Scholar in Finance at the Kogod School of Business, American University. She chairs the Department of Finance and Real Estate and holds research fellow roles at the CEPR and ECGI. Her work bridges macroeconomics and finance, focusing on global financial markets' interaction with the real economy and the US dollar's role in global financial conditions. She has been a visiting scholar at the Federal Reserve Board and a CFR Fellow in International Economics.
Education: MSc in Finance and Economics (London School of Economics), PhD in Finance (LSE).
Research interests include corporate finance governance, international banking, financial stability, and policy-relevant macro-finance linkages. Her work has been published in top journals like the Review of Financial Studies and covered by the Financial Times, Wall Street Journal, and Bloomberg.
Recent awards include the Runner Up Award for the best RFS paper (2023). Her scholarship informs policy discussions, including contributions to G20 reports. She serves as an Associate Editor at the Journal of Banking and Finance.
