Valentin Hegele serves as a Research Fellow at the Chair of Energy Efficient and Sustainable Design and Building within the Technical University of Munich (TUM), a position he has held since 2025. His work supports interdisciplinary research initiatives focused on sustainable urban development and climate-resilient building practices at one of Germany's leading technical universities.
He holds dual Master's degrees in resource-efficient and sustainable building from both the Technical University of Munich (2021-2024) and the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (2023), complemented by a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering and Business Management from the Technical University of Applied Sciences, Stuttgart (2018-2021). This educational foundation integrates technical engineering with business management perspectives for sustainable construction.
His research concentrates on sustainable building methodologies, circular economy implementation in construction, life cycle assessment protocols, and climate-adaptive urban infrastructure development. These interests directly align with the chair's active research portfolio including CircularGreenSimCity, Urban Green Infrastructure, and Klimalyse projects that address critical challenges in resource efficiency and climate resilience.
Prior to his current fellowship, Hegele gained practical industry experience through roles at EPEA (2025), ehret + klein AG (2023-2024), intep Integrale Planung GmbH (2022), and Dipl. Ing. H. Bendl. GmbH & Co.KG (2020-2022), bridging academic knowledge with real-world engineering applications.
