VALENTIN GOMEZ SANZ

Valentin Gomez Sanz is a Full Professor at the School of Forestry Engineering, Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM), affiliated with the Silvopasciculture Department and the Center for Biodiversity Conservation and Sustainable Development (CBDS). His career spans formal teaching, research, and administrative leadership.

Research Interests: His work focuses on Agronomy, Forestry, and Ecology, with additional expertise in Evolution, Behavior and Systematics, Agronomy and Crop Science, and Ecological Modeling. He has contributed to biodiversity conservation and sustainable development through research projects and knowledge transfer initiatives.

Teaching & Awards:

• Supervised over 300 Final Degree Projects/Projects for Forestry Technical Engineer and Graduate in Natural Environment Engineering degrees
• Received very favorable evaluations in the ANECA DOCENTIA Program
• Earned student recognition with average surveys scores above 4/5
• Awarded Congratulations via the PISADO Report and recognition for 6 teaching periods

Administrative Roles: Served as Deputy Director of Economic Affairs (1995-1999) and Deputy Director of the Silvopasciculture Department (2010-2012) at UPM. Coordinated the Institutional Evaluation Committee at ANECA and the SOCRATES-ERASMUS Program.
