V Chowdhry is a Part-time Assistant Professor in the Department of Media Studies at The New School, within the Schools of Public Engagement. He is also the filmmaker-in-residence at Reel Works and founder of Dakoit Pictures, a creative agency collaborating with media companies and social justice organizations. He holds a BFA in Film and Video from Penn State University and an MFA in Flim and Video from Bard College's Milton Avery Graduate School for the Arts.
His research interests include performance studies, cinematographay, analog video, media literaracy, youth media education, experimental film, and direct cinema documentary. Current and future courses include Media Practices: Dig Vid Prod and Projects: Digital Filmmaking, with offerings in Summer 2025 through Spring 2026. Past courses include Writing & Dir:Script to Screen and Media Practices: Dig Vid Prod.
His creative work spans feature films like Personality and Black February, as well as video installations exhibited at institutions such as the Queens Museum of Art. Professional affiliations include Dakoit Pictures, LREI, and Reel Works.
